In today’s economy, everyone is trying to save a pound or two, but that doesn’t mean that you have to give up entertaining to do so.

Having friends and family over doesn’t have to break your budget.

Here are a few simple tricks to keep your friends and family close without spending a lot of money.

This could be board games, interactive games, or even outdoor sports. Whatever appeals to you and your specific group.

If you love playing miniature golf, which can cost around £9 a person, purchase a croquet set and play as much as you want. It still involves hitting a small ball with a club but with a twist.

If you are an active bunch, get everyone together for a kickball game. This will be sure to quench your need for activity and bonding.

Have a bring a dish meal

This will not only allow you to eat and still enjoy the friendly banter but is much kinder on your wallet.

If everyone agrees to theme suppers it will be easy to feed everyone and get all the needed items for a great meal.

One night could be Mexican fiesta night. One person could make tacos, another quesadilla, and another nachos. This will make meals together less stressful with less mess to clean up afterwards.

Watch movies that you own

What is the point of buying a movie if you don’t ever watch it again?

Host a movie night and have everyone vote on a movie in your collection to watch.

This provides entertainment while keeping costs at a bare minimum. The only thing you need to splurge for is popcorn.

Go to the park and pack a picnic

Spending time at a local park is great inexpensive entertainment. Everyone can run around, play games or just spend time together. When you bring a picnic it also eliminates the need to grab something to eat on your way home. Having a sandwich in nature always tastes better than a sandwich on the couch.

No matter how you spend your time with your friends, you can come up with less expensive ways to do so. A budget isn’t there to stop you from having fun. It is there to make you be creative. It also ensures you will be able to retire someday because you didn’t blow all of your money on dinners out and party favours.
